Working Together

Every child deserves a personal approach to achieving their best self. I value a strong relationship with my clients and their caregivers and communication between the family and therapist. Building trust allows me to offer support in a non-judgmental, compassionate, play-based approach.

Some common challenges I work through include trauma, anxiety, depression, behavioral problems, school-related struggles, death and loss, divorce, peer/sibling conflict, and anger management.

What To Expect

Check List

Intake & Consultation

During our first meeting, I will talk with you, the parents/guardians/adult, to understand your perspective of what is happening and what has brought you to counseling. Forms, background information, and consent will be handled before or at this first meeting.

Therapy

Based on the intake process, I will devise a therapeutic plan to work on together. This includes an estimated number of sessions, the types of sessions (family, individual, parents only, etc.), and a treatment plan with goals.

Ongoing Support

As therapy continues, you may need phone consultations, parent coaching, collaboration with the school setting, or various other supports. We will discuss additional services as treatment progresses.

Parent Support

Do you need help understanding gifted education, special education evaluation, IEP meetings, 504 processes, or dyslexia in the classroom? I offer consultation for families in these areas and more.

During my 15 years as a public school counselor, I helped many families walk through these steps and understand how difficult they can be to navigate independently.
